Meghalaya is the land of Eri silk cocoons. The tradition of spinning and weaving is slowly fading in our region of Northeast India. We see an opportunity. That is why we are bringing out this special 70% Eri silk roving, 30% Muga fiber. When customers buy this unique silk yarn traditions are revived and villages prosper.
Our Eri Muga Silk Sliver / Roving is made from Eri B Grade cocoons (70%) and Muga Waste cocoons (30%). This fiber has been processed in the mill where the fibers are blended together to create a light golden color. After the cocoons are degummed separately a machine is used to blend the fibers into a uniform consistent mixture. This roving fiber can be used for making various yarn types.
The natural color of this soft roving is the fiber that artisans and makers are looking for. Spinners love getting their hands on this ready to spin fiber. Not to mention the sustainable story behind this popular Eri silk.
